In today’s digital work space, objects easily swivel from size to size. They can be enlarged or reduced without consequence, enabling architects to playfully assemble forms from a palette of references, big and small, that are then deployable as buildings, furniture, paperweights, and even cities. Their flexibility permits architects to momentarily ignore the particularities of materials, structure, and social organization. For some, this has led to the use of enlarged or miniaturized references, while others have imagined architectural compositions that operate at sizes between building massing and material detail.
